Appealing Art: A Collage Strategy

Question 1. What are some of the ways that contemporary collage, as described in the article, differs from approaches to collage in the 20th and 21st Century?

During the 20th and 21st Century contemporary art was used to reflect issues in the real world and the artists opinion. The strategy of expressing these ideas throughout collages helped these artist express more than one idea at a time. These collages also express the artists opinion about a curtain subject. Artist in the 20th and 21st Century had limited art mediums to help create and express their ideas making it harder to produce well crafted collages. Without having advanced technology in the 20th and 21st Century artist struggled to promote their art work having less fans. Although there are very iconic and prestige collages made in the 20th/21st Century the amount of social media, technology, and collage mediums have grown exponentially making it easier for artist to share and collaborate their ideas.

Question 2. Given what you have seen and read in the article, why do you think collage as a strategy for making appeals to so many artists today.

Collages are a combination of creativity and skill. May artists have their unique style of expressing their feelings throughout art and by using collage artists can achieve what they want to express.Collages are a great way to express ideas to many viewers at once. Having a visually stimulating image viewers are more likely to be involved with the art work. I believe that collage attracts so many artist because they can use multiple ideas that they have at once in any medium that they would like to use. The use of technology and other websites such as pintrest, tumblr, and Instagram helps artist find additional inspiration and additions to their collages. In many cases images are used off of websites and transformed into the artists desire allowing them to enhance their collage. Having this opportunity to enhance ideas and images artists can collaborate and produce beautiful collages allowing more artists to use collage.. Collage is very open, allowing many artists to use this type of image production.
