I attended my first artist event on Wedesday November 15th ant 12pm in the Glendennng Anex. The artist that was presenting their art work was Giulia Livia and she is currently my Color professor and will be my advanced painting professor next semester.
While I was listening to Giulia talk about her work I picked up on her common theme which was objects in space. She does a really good job portraying geometric shapes in space and focusing on their light, shadow, and weid shape. She explained that when she was growing up she lived in a house full of unsuable objects because her parents collected antique and she was never alowed to use them. Within her instillations she portrays this by creating unsuable shapes. I thought that this was interesting becasue she is trying to mimic some objects and wrap them up to give them a differnt unusable look.
My favorite insitallation she did was the room that was completly blue. She painted every edge of the room with the baby blue tint and made the objects on the walls differnt shadesof blue. This was my favorite becasue she was able to make a couch attached to the wall that didnt even look like a couch and she made it unsuable. Onother one of my favorite thing that didn't really talk about her art work but explaind how she got to where she is was by ceating friends that also mad art instillations. Overall this was a really interesting artist even and I can relate her color choices to the Color class that I am in.
